Promptings Academy-Day 1,377-Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,377 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Wednesday – 8/11/2021

Promptings Academy

In Salt Lake at the Greener Still/SendOutCards office getting ready for the Promptings Academy on Saturday. We have a big announcement coming out this weekend that I am super excited about. Steve caught this photo of me working. I really do love what I do and it’s great to be here, in person, interacting with the team. Definitely onward and upward as great things to come.

About “Finding Joy”

And I’m off…. the 16-day adventure begins. The timing of this trip is interesting so I’m naming it “Finding Joy in the Journey.” I’ll be doing one dedicated post each day (at the end of the day or next morning). Since I typically post more than once a day, you’ll find it as a black and white photo. I’ll share the joy of the journey (on the trip or through this season), where I’m finding it and what I’m learning. I hope to inspire myself along the way. And if I can inspire others too, that would be a gift. So let the journey begin…

It was November 2017 and I was ready to head off on a sixteen-day trip.  Nine days before leaving, my mom unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack. It shook me to my core.  I had always been told the 40’s are the best years of your life.  And in a matter of three years, since turning the age of 40, I had gone through a divorce and lost both parents.

I contemplated canceling the trip though I knew my mom would not be happy with that decision. She would want me to continue living my life.  My parents did not raise me to sit back and watch life; instead to fully participate in every moment. So I promised my parents to find joy in the journey everyday on my sixteen-day trip and share my experience with others.

Little did I know what “Finding the Joy in the Journey” would turn into when I acted on the prompting to share my experience on a daily basis.  It helped me see life differently and my wish is that it will inspire others find joy in their journey.

We Are Off To Salt Lake City-Day 1,376 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,376 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Tuesday – 8/10/2021

We Are Off To Salt Lake City

We are off to Salt Lake City! I am really excited to be taking Steve with me on this trip to Salt Lake City. SendOutCards/Greener Still has been such a big part of my life over the past twelve years. In a lot of ways, it has helped me become the woman I am today.

Steve’s watched me in this company since 2017, starting with me staying up all night to help a team member promote to Executive, when our scuba diving boat docked for the last night of the Red Sea trip where we met. He’s seen me build my business from all over as we travelled the world. This week Steve will get to see where the magic happens and even more of why I love this company.

Create A Balance-Day 1,375 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,375 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 8/9/2021

Create A Balance

Back from our road trip. In time to take a walk along the lake, before my first set of meetings for the day. I love being able to design my life and create a balance between work and play. I love saying yes to doing things that I couldn’t always do in a traditional job.

Believing a big part of finding joy is in creating a life that works for you and your dreams. The first part of designing your life is to figure out what you want. Steve and I are headed to Salt Lake City this week for the Promptings Academy. A handful of us will be attending in person on Saturday.

Though excited we are also offering it virtually as it was this event back in 2010 that helped me define how I wanted to create and live my life. I’m excited to see others experience this event for the first time or their 20th time and see what is created.

A Texas Road Trip-Day 1,374 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,374 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Sunday – 8/8/2021

A Texas Road Trip

Steve and I took a Texas road trip for a mini get-away! A Texas road trip requires lunch at Whataburger and a stop at Buc-ee’s. Plus, if you notice Steve’s shirt and hat, he is definitely embracing his inner Texan! It was a lovely day to get-away and do something out of the ordinary.

With My Girlfriend-Day 1,373 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,373 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Saturday – 8/7/2021

An Hour With My Girlfriend

It was so nice to spend an hour with my girlfriend Jill in her pool floating around and chatting away.

We had a swimming pool growing up and I spent many summer afternoons in our pool. I don’t get into a pool very often now, though when I do, I’m always happy that I did.

Who cares if it messes up my hair! I enjoy it and when you can spend time with your girlfriend hanging out, it makes it even better!

On The Back Patio-Day 1,372 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,372 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Friday – 8/6/2021

On The Back Patio

I Love sitting out on the back patio, drinking my morning coffee, and doing personal development. And my view just got better! Steve took it upon himself to make our cedar fence look good. Over the past month he has scraped it, received approval from the HOA to stain it and this week finished the project. It looks fantastic and I Love sitting out on the back patio

It’s nice to have a husband that notices things and makes them better. I love that he figures out what needs to be done around the house and just does it so I can focus on other things. Thanks Steve! You did a fantastic job!

The Book That I Am Writing-Day 1,371 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,371 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Thursday – 8/5/2021

The Book That I Am Writing

This morning I finished a draft copy of the second section of the book that I am writing. This part of the book is very vulnerable for me. After trying to write my story by leaving some parts out, I realized that I can’t write it without those parts. Those stories are part of who I am, what I went through and where I am now.

This section is definitely not done though it’s a good working copy to refine and make better. I love the refinement in the writing process. It’s tedious and I typically don’t like tedious. Though there is something in taking a rough draft and moulding it into a piece worth sharing. I experienced this process in the chapter I wrote for the, soon to be published, Personal Branding Book in the Momentum Makers series (Book #4).

Next week I will be reading through this draft, making sure the flow is there and sending off to my coach for review. It’s coming together. All in its own time.

Breaking Bread-Day 1,370-Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,370 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Wednesday – 8/4/2021

Breaking bread over dinner

Breaking bread over dinner (in this case tortillas and tortilla chips) with a friend. I’ve done so little entertaining at my house, over the past year, that it nice to have company and share a good meal and some nice wine!

Six Years Ago-Day 1,369-Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,369 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Tuesday – 8/3/2021

it was six years ago tonight

It’s hard to believe it was six years ago tonight that I was awoken from me sleep to learn that you had passed away. I’m so glad a friend gave me the advice to call you earlier that evening. The phone was held up to your ear so I could tell you how much I loved you and how glad I was that you are my Dad. I didn’t want to think it was my last conversation with you though in my gut I knew it was. I’m glad I had that chance.

I remember a few days earlier, before you left Texas to spend the week in Minnesota, you uninvited me from going on the trip with you and mom. I’m so glad the two of you had that drive together. She would tell me about it later and how special your last few days together were. I remember the business advice you gave me that day as well. I’ve held it near and dear and will remember it always.

Miss you lots Daddy! Think of you often and you were in my dream the other night. I miss mom too, though know you are happy to be together again. I love you and thanks for being my dad. Don’t worry about me, your baby girl is doing good! There are days I wish you could see me now though in my heart I believe you can.

I Love My Walks-Day 1,368-Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,368 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 8/2/2021

I love my walks around the lake by my house

I love my walks around the lake by my house. It’s so peaceful to be out in nature. I work on being present during my walks and it is one of my best creative idea times during the day.

With the Texas summer heat, I typically do my walks in the morning before yoga. Today, I decided to do my walk a little earlier as to not do both workouts back-to-back.

So, I set out at sunrise and I loved my walk even more. A little bit lower temperatures, a lot less muggy and so much more beautiful seeing the sunrise in the morning. What a great way to start my week!
