Intermittent Fasting Day 1,327 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,327 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Tuesday – 6/22/2021

Intermittent Fasting

Today, I hit day 365 of Intermittent Fasting (IF). I am really proud of myself for moving to this lifestyle and sticking to it.

As I’ve mentioned before, I felt like I have spent much of my life on a diet and felt guilty for eating. Those beliefs are old and long held, though over the last year I have been able to chip away at them.

I have practiced IF and loving my body. I’ve worked on loving my body instead of looking in the mirror and calling myself fat. It doesn’t mean I don’t have the thoughts, though I am aware of them and try to correct them.

I have allowed myself to eat what I choose in my open window and worked on not feeling guilty for what I eat. I want to enjoy food, drink, and life. This is a good path for me and I’m excited to see where I am in another year from now.

And amazingly, I have lost 9 pounds over the last year. It hasn’t been hard and hasn’t been my focus (at least most of the time – old habits do die hard). I’m enjoying the journey instead of fixating on a number or outcome.

About “Finding Joy”

And I’m off…. the 16-day adventure begins. The timing of this trip is interesting so I’m naming it “Finding Joy in the Journey.” I’ll be doing one dedicated post each day (at the end of the day or next morning). Since I typically post more than once a day, you’ll find it as a black and white photo. I’ll share the joy of the journey (on the trip or through this season), where I’m finding it and what I’m learning. I hope to inspire myself along the way. And if I can inspire others too, that would be a gift. So let the journey begin…

It was November 2017 and I was ready to head off on a sixteen-day trip.  Nine days before leaving, my mom unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack. It shook me to my core.  I had always been told the 40’s are the best years of your life.  And in a matter of three years, since turning the age of 40, I had gone through a divorce and lost both parents.

I contemplated canceling the trip though I knew my mom would not be happy with that decision. She would want me to continue living my life.  My parents did not raise me to sit back and watch life; instead to fully participate in every moment. So I promised my parents to find joy in the journey everyday on my sixteen-day trip and share my experience with others.

Little did I know what “Finding the Joy in the Journey” would turn into when I acted on the prompting to share my experience on a daily basis.  It helped me see life differently and my wish is that it will inspire others find joy in their journey.

Tonight’s dessert Day 1,326 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,326 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 6/21/2021

Tonight’s dessert

Tonight’s dessert – Avenue Sweets Sea Salt Caramels and my favorite all time gift from SendOutCards. My friend Cathy supplied dessert. When she brought them out, I asked her where her and Steve’s caramels were. Ha ha ha. She told me I had to share with them. Share?!? I did share Tonight’s dessert. These caramels rate right up there with frosting for me! I seem to be on a dessert kick right now!

Rain nor Shine Day 1,325 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,325 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Sunday – 6/20/2021

Rain nor shine

Rain nor shine will keep us away. Ha ha ha! Though we decided only to play nine holes instead of the full eighteen. I’m so glad Steve has decided to play this crazy sport of golf with me. It’s a great way to hang out together on a Sunday afternoon.

Birthday Cake- Day 1,324 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,324 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Saturday – 6/19/2021

Birthday Cake.

It was nice to be invited and attend a birthday party! I love being out and about. With birthday parties, you get birthday cake!!!

I’ve always been a big fan of birthday cake. Though as I pointed out to my friends, it’s not really about the cake; it’s all about the frosting. I believe the whole purpose of cake, is to have somewhere to put the frosting! Because the frosting is what it important!! LOL! What about you – do you like the cake better or the frosting better?

So Glad I Said YES. Day 1,323 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,323 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Friday – 6/18/202

I’m so glad I said YES.

I’m so glad I said YES. Four years ago, on a dive trip in Egypt, my world was changed forever. Going to Egypt to see the pyramids and dive the Red Sea were on my Top 100 list from the day I created it.

When I booked the Egypt trip, my good friends didn’t want to go, and my mom tried to convince me not to go. I went because I didn’t want to look back some day and say, “I wish I would have.” With a last-minute cancellation, my niece Paxton joined me, and we had an amazing time!

In our dive group, we were paired up with three Brits that we got to know over the week. Steve was one of those Brits! We stayed in touch, started dating 6 months later and we were married 18 months after meeting on that trip.

Little did I know when I said Yes! my Top 100 list, it would also be where I met my husband. I’m so glad I said YES.

A birdie Day 1,322 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,322 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Thursday – 6/17/2021

A birdie

Yay!! A birdie! Every time I get a birdie, at this point in my golf playing, it’s a really BIG deal to me! Today it was on Cypress #14 – Par 3. I love that Steve and I find an evening each week to go out and play. I love playing on the weekends with our friends though I also love when it’s just the two of us! With is almost being the longest day of daylight of the year we were even able to squeeze in a full round of 18! Might as well make hay while the sun shines!

Most people I know listen to music Day 1,321 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,321 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Wednesday – 6/16/2021

Most people I know listen to music

Most people I know listen to music, audibles or podcasts when they walk. That used to be me too. Over a year ago, I read a book about meditation. Meditation doesn’t have to be done cross-legged with your eyes closed. In this book, it was more about being really present. This is what I have made my walks into. I try to make sure I get in at least 3 walks per week, and I go out enjoy my time in nature with only the sounds happening around me. After practicing this for the past year, I’ve found this time is much more rejuvenating for me and the place where some of my best ideas come from. I absolutely love this time of my day!

Dinner with Steve-Day 1,320 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,320 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Tuesday – 6/15/2021

Dinner with Steve

Had a great dinner with Steve at Perry’s tonight. He has heard me talk about it several times though he had never been. It was a different type of date night instead of golf and dinner at the club (don’t worry that’s still in the plans this week – ha ha). It was a fun evening out as we also went suit shopping for him for my nephew’s wedding next month. He’s going to look quite debonair!

A group that works together Day 1,319 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,319 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 6/14/2021

A group that works together

A group that works together, grows together! I love our Monday brainstorming sessions to build our businesses. I am blessed to work with so many people in SendOutCards and Greener Still! It was about 12 years ago, that I was first introduced to this company and my life has been blessed because of it. A big part because of the amazing people I get to work with on a daily basis. I am proud of what we are doing with SendOutCards and Greener Still and where we are going!

I love this sign Day 1,318 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,318 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Sunday – 6/13/2021

I love this sign

I love this sign my girlfriend has on her wall. And it is so true. It’s easy to talk about other people. To be upset at someone for doing something that you don’t agree with. It’s not always easy to let things go, though the only thing we can control is ourselves and our reactions. I really want to focus on being the person discussing ideas!
