The Onion Lotus Flower. Finding Joy in the Journey5/3/2021

Day 1,277 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 5/3/2021

The Onion Lotus Flower

I Loved having friends in to visit this week. Steve made us a fantastic sea bass dinner and surprised us with a baked onion that looks like a lotus flower. I’m impressed! Great food and great friends. Life is good!

About “Finding Joy”

And I’m off…. the 16-day adventure begins. The timing of this trip is interesting so I’m naming it “Finding Joy in the Journey.” I’ll be doing one dedicated post each day (at the end of the day or next morning). Since I typically post more than once a day.

You’ll find it as a black and white photo. I’ll share the joy of the journey (on the trip or through this season), where I’m finding it and what I’m learning. I hope to inspire myself along the way. And if I can inspire others too, that would be a gift. So, let the journey begin…

It was November 2017, and I was ready to head off on a sixteen-day trip.  Nine days before leaving, my mom, unexpectedly, passed away from a heart attack. It shook me to my core.  I had always been told the 40’s are the best years of your life.  And in a matter of three years, since turning the age of 40, I had gone through a divorce and lost both parents.

I contemplated canceling the trip though I knew my mom would not be happy with that decision. She would want me to continue living my life.  My parents did not raise me to sit back and watch life; instead to fully participate in every moment. So, I promised my parents to find joy in the journey every day on my sixteen-day trip and share my experience with others.

Little did I know what “Finding the Joy in the Journey” would turn into when I acted on the prompting to share my experience on a daily basis.  It helped me see life differently and my wish is that it will inspire others to find joy in their journey.

After Raining-Day 1,276-Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,276 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Sunday – 5/2/2021

After raining and raining and raining

After raining and raining and raining for two days solid, the weather turned beautiful. The course was a little wet though such a great day to get out and golf. Thank goodness I’m used to walking the seven plus miles as it was cart path only. I love when the weather changes and we have sun and blue skies. It just makes me happy!

When it Won’t Stop Raining-Day 1,275-Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,275 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Saturday – 5/1/2021

When it won’t stop raining

When it won’t stop raining for two full days and it messes up your golf game, you just have to find the next best thing! I am much better on the course than the simulator though what a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon when the weather isn’t cooperating. Plus, this was a great way for Steve to play his first round of golf to see what he thinks!

Perfect Shoes-Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,274 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Friday – 4/30/2021

Perfect shoes

I’ve been on a mission to find the perfect shoes. A pair of black wedges. I knew exactly what I wanted though had a hard time finding them. Finally, I found a pair that fit my requirements. Yay! Plus, I always love a little retail therapy!

Date night. Finding Joy in the Journey 4/29/2021

Date night. Day 1,273 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Thursday – 4/29/2021

Date night with Steve. He had been wanting to try the local taco place just around the corner from the house. It’s hard to believe that in over a month that he’s been here, and this is the first time that just the two of us have gone out to a restaurant for dinner. We’ve been out to dinner and to the club with friends though never just the two of us. The goal is to make this date night a Thursday night ritual!

Blue 42. Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,272 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Wednesday – 4/28/2021

Blue 42

This is one of my new favorite products from Greener Still/SendOutCards and our new Blue 42 line. Some nights I am wide awake at 3 AM and my mind is totally at work. Usually, it is fixated on something from the day before that I am processing – a new idea or solution. I have a hard time shutting off my brain at times. I love using the new lavender dreams when that happens. It smells amazing and makes me feel much more relaxed after applying it.

Day 1,271 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Tuesday – 4/27/2021

One of my favorite things

One of my favorite things to do early in the morning is sit on my back patio and spend 30 minutes reading books that help me develop and grow. It was such a beautiful morning and glad the weather and the early morning light are cooperating now!

I`m Curious, what’s one of your favorite morning rituals?

A Bridal Shower-Day 1,270 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,270 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 4/26/2021

A Bridal Shower

One of the great things from having a bridal shower at the house over the weekend is all of the beautiful flower arrangements all over the house! Usually, I have one or two vases of flowers. Since the shower, I now have 7 arrangements throughout the house. They just make me smile as I walk into each room!

This Was A Change-Day 1,269 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,269 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Sunday – 4/25/2021

So, this was a change to our typical.

So, this was a change to our typical. I decided I wanted to do something special for Steve and make our Sunday dinner. Plus, it was a great way for me to be creative. I actually like to cook though only when I am not bound by a time restraint. So, Sunday afternoon is a great time for me to experiment.

I rarely cook from a direct recipe. In this case, I looked up a few different recipes for pesto chicken and a few recipes with “potato and half & half” in the search. I like to look at different recipes, get ideas and then make it my own. I was a little nervous about the potato dish though both it and the chicken came out great. Plus, it was really nice to treat Steve to a meal since he does the majority of our cooking!

So, this was a change to our typical.

Day 1,268 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Saturday – 4/24/2021

I Co-hosted a bridal shower,

I co-hosted a bridal shower, with my sister Tricia, for our nephew’s fiancée Sierra. I am so excited to be welcoming Sierra into our family in July. Plus, it was the first time all three sisters and all of the nieces have been together in a really long time. Our mom would have loved the shower and loved having all of her girls together.
