Day 1,207 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 2/22/2021

Day 1,207 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 2/22/2021

I am typically a very happy and optimistic person. Though some days, things happen, and I don’t want to be happy or optimistic. I fall into the trap of worry, anger and just being annoyed.

Today was one of those days and for me, I knew the best way to feel better was some self-care. Getting outside in the sunshine for a long walk helps me process what’s going on in my life. When I arrived back home from my walk, this beautiful card showed up from seven of my girlfriends. Then a few hours later this amazing blanket from the same group of girlfriends! I was blown away by their thoughtfulness, kindness and such a lovely gift.

Thank you, ladies. You have no idea how much I needed this today of all days. It was a sign that everything will work out just fine. I believe God works through people to give us messages and this was the one I needed to hear today.

About “Finding Joy”

And I’m off…. the 16-day adventure begins. The timing of this trip is interesting so I’m naming it “Finding Joy in the Journey.” I’ll be doing one dedicated post each day (at the end of the day or next morning). Since I typically post more than once a day, you’ll find it as a black and white photo. I’ll share the joy of the journey (on the trip or through this season), where I’m finding it and what I’m learning. I hope to inspire myself along the way. And if I can inspire others too, that would be a gift. So, let the journey begin…

It was November 2017, and I was ready to head off on a sixteen-day trip.  Nine days before leaving, my mom, unexpectedly, passed away from a heart attack. It shook me to my core.  I had always been told the 40’s are the best years of your life.  And in a matter of three years, since turning the age of 40, I had gone through a divorce and lost both parents.

I contemplated canceling the trip though I knew my mom would not be happy with that decision. She would want me to continue living my life.  My parents did not raise me to sit back and watch life; instead to fully participate in every moment. So, I promised my parents to find joy in the journey every day on my sixteen-day trip and share my experience with others.

Little did I know what “Finding the Joy in the Journey” would turn into when I acted on the prompting to share my experience on a daily basis.  It helped me see life differently and my wish is that it will inspire others to find joy in their journey.

I love how organized my desk is Day 1,206 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,206 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Sunday – 2/21/2021

I love how organized my desk is

I love how organized my desk and desk drawers are! The file project was not fun though well worth it. Plus, it inspired me to clean the other four drawers in my desk. So much room and empty space now. I love it. It makes sitting down at my desk that much more inviting!

Day 1,205 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Saturday – 2/20/2021

After missing last weekend

After missing last weekend on the golf course because of the weather, it was so nice some of the local courses were open. Our club was closed though we spent the afternoon playing La Quinta at Quail Valley. It was so nice to get out in the sunshine and warmer temps!

We Depend on Electricity Day 1,202 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,202 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Wednesday – 2/17/2021

how much we depend on electricity

It’s amazing how much we depend on electricity in our daily lives. So, waking up with no power, I decided to tackle a project that has been on my list since Covid started. When I moved into my house almost three years ago, I just put all of my files in drawers. I knew I needed to go through them though it never sounded like a fun project.

With very little else that I could do because of no electricity, it seemed like today would be a good day to start! My office looks like a bomb went off though it feels good to have finally gotten this project underway.

What’s a project that you want to do though keep putting off?

Brrrr. Day 1,200 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,200 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 2/15/2021

Brrrr

Brrrr….the cold and the snow has hit Texas! I moved to Texas from Indiana to get away from winter. As I stared out my front door in the early morning, the fresh fallen snow took me back to the days of my youth. There is something about untouched snow that is truly beautiful. It’s not the weather I wanted though. I’ve learned that there is beauty/joy to find in every situation.

My Valentine. Day 1,199 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,199 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Sunday – 2/14/2021

My Valentine

My Valentine! This photo is from exactly one year ago when Steve dropped me at Heathrow to fly home on Valentine’s Day. Little did we know what the next year would bring including the pandemic, only one trip for seeing each other in person and still waiting for Steve to be in Texas. Though we are really close. Steve has his interview this Wednesday at the US Embassy in London and then it will take a couple of weeks to process everything and he’ll be able to catch a flight home to Texas. It’s hard to believe how long this journey has been, though worth it for us to be together. Happy Valentine’s Day Steve! I am counting the days and hours until you are home. I love you!
