Last Weekend Day 1,197 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,197 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Friday – 2/12/2021

Last Weekend

Last weekend I found the baby in the King Cake, so it was my turn to treat! My girlfriend girl kept mentioning Ambrosia Bakery in Baton Rouge. Look what showed up today. A fresh praline pecan King Cake from Ambrosia. I was so excited to try it I ate two pieces. LOL! It was that good!

About “Finding Joy”

And I’m off…. the 16-day adventure begins. The timing of this trip is interesting so I’m naming it “Finding Joy in the Journey.” I’ll be doing one dedicated post each day (at the end of the day or next morning). Since I typically post more than once a day, you’ll find it as a black and white photo. I’ll share the joy of the journey (on the trip or through this season), where I’m finding it and what I’m learning. I hope to inspire myself along the way. And if I can inspire others too, that would be a gift. So let the journey begin…

It was November 2017 and I was ready to head off on a sixteen-day trip.  Nine days before leaving, my mom unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack. It shook me to my core.  I had always been told the 40’s are the best years of your life.  And in a matter of three years, since turning the age of 40, I had gone through a divorce and lost both parents.

I contemplated canceling the trip though I knew my mom would not be happy with that decision. She would want me to continue living my life.  My parents did not raise me to sit back and watch life; instead to fully participate in every moment. So I promised my parents to find joy in the journey everyday on my sixteen-day trip and share my experience with others.

Little did I know what “Finding the Joy in the Journey” would turn into when I acted on the prompting to share my experience on a daily basis.  It helped me see life differently and my wish is that it will inspire others find joy in their journey.

Scotch Tasting. Day 1,196 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,196 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Thursday – 2/11/2021

Scotch Tasting

This was a first! Scotch tasting with The Macallan. I’ve never been a big scotch fan though I do love trying and doing new things. Wow! The 25 Year Sherry Cask was amazing! Of course, the most expensive was by far my favorite. Ha ha! What a fun evening trying something new!

Spending More Time. Day 1,195 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,195 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Wednesday – 2/10/2021

Spending More Time

I’ve been spending more time in the evenings in my office because of different webinars we are having with the launch of Greener Still. I’ve found the best way to get out of my office is to make an appointment for myself. With a reservation made at my local pedicure place for 5:45 PM, I had a commitment that I needed to honor. A 60-minute pedicure and my latest fiction book made for a great evening out!

Just as we schedule appointments for meetings, it’s so important to book time in our calendar for appointments for self-care!

Hidden Treasures. Day 1,194 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,194 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Tuesday – 2/9/2021

Hidden Treasures.

It’s fun to find hidden treasures. In 8th grade, I was given an assignment to write my autobiography. For over 30 years, this autobiography has survived and moved with me during each chapter of my life.

As I am working on my book and writing about some stories of when I was young, I went looking for what I had written. It’s interesting to dive into my 14-year-old mind and what I thought were the most important chapters of my life back then. Plus, it’s great material to help me craft the chapters I am currently working on. What a gem to have and be able to dive into.

In December and January. Day 1,193 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,193 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 2/8/2021

In December and January

In December and January with everything I had going on, I got out of the habit of cooking. I actually made it a purpose to eat what I had out of my pantry and freezer. I am now over that idea (lol!) and back to cooking meals in the evenings. I was very happy with this concoction especially the halloumi. Yum!

I definitely go back and forth on cooking – from liking it to hating it. Curious, what’s something you go back and forth on from loving and hating?

Super Special Day. Day 1,192 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,192 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Sunday – 2/7/2021

super special day

It’s a super special day as it is Steve’s birthday! I love birthdays and can’t wait until he’s home and we can celebrate in person. 10 days and counting until his interview at the embassy which means less than a month from now, he’ll be home.

Happy birthday handsome. I miss celebrating in person with you though can’t wait until you are here and we are together once again!

I love you!

A Fun Evening Day 1,191 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,191 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Saturday – 2/6/2021

Such a fun evening

Such a fun evening with my nephew Reed and his fiancé Sierra. We had a fun extended birthday celebration for Sierra!

Plus, it was so nice to put on a dress and heels and enjoy an evening out. There have been so few reasons to get dressed up since March that it was really. It was the first time I had been to a Houston restaurant for a fancy dinner in a long time. What used to be a normality is now a special treat.

A Lot Going On. Day 1,190 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,190 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Friday – 2/5/2021

A Lot Going On

I’ve had a lot going on in the past two weeks because of the launch. I promised myself earlier in the week that on Friday, I would make our 1:35 tee time. I love to work on my business though I also know the importance of taking time for me and recharging my batteries. So, the golf clubs came out and the iPhone got put up. I just didn’t realize it was going to be 55 degrees out! Brrrr… Though sill a nice time on the course. I love having the option of choosing how, when and where I work and play.

55 degrees out! Brrrr.

What a week. Day 1,189 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,189 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Thursday – 2/4/202

What a week.

What a week! New Affiliates, new customers, lots of training and questions, first daily check and we are just getting started. I’m excited to be part of a Greener Still and our six income streams. Greener Still, a brand-new company, backed by an eighteen-year history. I had no idea when I joined SendOutCards 11.5 years ago how we would evolve. I couldn’t have imagined this though excited to help my team build their businesses and offer our customers several new product lines and offerings. The grass just got greener – Greener Still! We truly have become A Better Way!

You Just Have to Laugh at Yourself. Day 1,188 – Finding Joy in the Journey

Day 1,188 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Wednesday – 2/3/2021

Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself

Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself (there’s a reason this photo is in color)!

There’s a lot of moving parts in my life right now with the launch of Greener Still. Exciting times. With the excitement, questions, and team growth there’s a lot going on. So much so that I walked out of the house, ran an errand and when I came back, I realized that I had two different earrings on! Not one person I saw mentioned it. Maybe they thought I was starting a new fashion trend! Luckily, I saw it before, I presented my “Your Next 100” presentation to a networking group via Zoom.

What do you do in a situation like this? Just laugh at yourself and know that you are human! A great reminder that joy is the goal, not perfection!
