Day 1,257 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Tuesday – 4/13/2021

Journaling.

I try to spend time every morning journaling. I absolutely love my new Happy journal that my friend Melinda made and sent to me. It makes me smile every time I pull it out to write in it. Thank you so much Melinda for the thoughtful gift!

About “Finding Joy”

And I’m off…. the 16-day adventure begins. The timing of this trip is interesting so I’m naming it “Finding Joy in the Journey.” I’ll be doing one dedicated post each day (at the end of the day or next morning). Since I typically post more than once a day.

You’ll find it as a black and white photo. I’ll share the joy of the journey (on the trip or through this season), where I’m finding it and what I’m learning. I hope to inspire myself along the way. And if I can inspire others too, that would be a gift. So, let the journey begin…

It was November 2017, and I was ready to head off on a sixteen-day trip.  Nine days before leaving, my mom, unexpectedly, passed away from a heart attack. It shook me to my core.  I had always been told the 40’s are the best years of your life.  And in a matter of three years, since turning the age of 40, I had gone through a divorce and lost both parents.

I contemplated canceling the trip though I knew my mom would not be happy with that decision. She would want me to continue living my life.  My parents did not raise me to sit back and watch life; instead to fully participate in every moment. So, I promised my parents to find joy in the journey every day on my sixteen-day trip and share my experience with others.

Little did I know what “Finding the Joy in the Journey” would turn into when I acted on the prompting to share my experience on a daily basis.  It helped me see life differently and my wish is that it will inspire others to find joy in their journey.

Monday evenings-Day 1,256 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 4/12/2021

Monday evenings is the night of our company and team calls so sometimes it can make for a long day! It was so nice to come out Monday night after the calls and find this amazing dinner waiting for me! Seabass was the main course, and it was fantastic. Thank you, Steve for making sure on a crazy night that we have a great meal!

Day 1,255 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Sunday – 4/11/2021

It was fun to have our golf gang all back together again. This is the first day we’ve all been together since Steve arrived in Texas last month. Great afternoon of golfing, celebrating and watching the Masters!

Day 1,254 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Saturday – 4/10/2021

I Visited My Friend

I visited my friend Tracey on Saturday. I hadn’t seen her in a few years and I’m so glad we were able to spend a little time together. Nineteen years ago, she was diagnosed with brain cancer and was given two years to live. She’s definitely an anomaly and it was so good to see her. We were able to laugh and smile about some of our old antics. Life is precious. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I went to visit though I am so glad that I made the time to do so. I promised I would be back to visit her. And I will be. Life is built on relationships. Things may change though friendship will carry through.

This was a project-Finding Joy in Journey-Thursday – 4/8/2021

Day 1,252 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Thursday – 4/8/2021

This was a project

This was a project I was hoping to have done before Steve got to Texas, though it took a little longer than I expected. New draperies, pillows and bench covering in our bedroom. This was the room I felt like was never truly finished in our house. And now it is! This enhancement to our bedroom has me saying every time I walk in “I love this room!” For me, loving the space I live in is so critical to my daily joy!

Woohoo-Finding Joy in the Journey – Tuesday – 4/6/202

Day 1,250 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Tuesday – 4/6/2021

WOOHOO

Woohoo!! We are so excited. We came home from Atlanta and waiting in our mailbox was Steve’s Permanent Resident (aka green card) in our mailbox! Woohoo! It’s official. My hubby is here to stay. What a journey it has been. We were married on Day 404 in Finding Joy in the Journey, so it took us over 840 days to get to this moment. The good news is that Steve is official, and it was so worth the wait even though at times it seemed like it would never happen. Tonight, we toasted to us and our future. Woohoo!!!

What a beautiful sunset- Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 4/5/2021

Day 1,249 – Finding Joy in the Journey – Monday – 4/5/2021

What a beautiful sunset

What a beautiful sunset on the evening walk with Melanie. We made the turn at the cul-de-sac and when we turned around, we found this waiting for us. It was so beautiful I had to stop Melanie mid-sentence and all I could say is “Look!” I love the beauty of nature and when it totally catches you off guard.
